Although your browser should detect this, you must download the file for the architecture powering your hardware (Figure 1). If it's an older device, you'll want to select macOS (Intel). If it's a newer device, you'll want to select macOS (Apple Silicon). Once you've made your selection, click Download, and the file will save to your local drive. You will be prompted to allow the download. When that happens, click Allow.
Depending on the speed of your network connection, the download will take anywhere from 2-10 minutes. Once it finishes, expand Downloads in your dock and click the LibreOffice entry (Figure 2).

The project was announced and a beta released on 28 September 2010. In the nine months between January 2011 (the first stable release) and October 2011, LibreOffice was downloaded about 7.5 million times.[19] In 2015, the project claimed 120 million unique downloading addresses from May 2011 to May 2015, excluding Linux distributions, with 55 million of those being from May 2014 to May 2015.[20] The Document Foundation estimates that there are 200 million active LibreOffice users worldwide; approximately 25% are students and 10% are Linux users, who usually find LibreOffice part of their preferred distribution.[21]
2011: The Document Foundation estimated in September 2011, that there were 10 million users worldwide who had obtained LibreOffice via downloads or CD-ROMs. Over 90% of those were on Windows, with another 5% on OS X. LibreOffice is the default office suite for most Linux distributions, and is installed when the operating system is installed or updated. Based on International Data Corporation reckonings for new or updated Linux installations in 2011, The Document Foundation estimated a subtotal of 15 million Linux users. This gave a total estimated user base of 25 million users in 2011.[184] In 2011, the Document Foundation set a target of 200 million users worldwide before the end of 2020.[184]

Note that macOS doesn't provide spell-checking dictionaries for all of the languages it supports for the user interface. For instance, no Bulgarian dictionary is provided "out of the box". Fortunately Apple has made it easy to add new spelling dictionaries that you can download online, so that you should be able to set up Scrivener and Scapple to use your preferred language for spell-checking.
The following explains how to add a new dictionary for spelling-checking. macOS can read OpenOffice dictionaries, so in this example we will download an OpenOffice Bulgarian dictionary from the LibreOffice website (the most up to date version of OpenOffice) and install it so that it can be used by most programs on macOS, including Scrivener. 2ff7e9595c
